From the art director's notes: Uhndek is a stocky lizardfolk druid, only five feet tall but broad-shouldered. He holds a spear in one hand, the head of which is slightly curved with a serrated edge; the spear’s shaft is covered in runes, and several finger bones hang from the spear by short tethers of twine. He wears hide armor made of crocodile hide, and a thick leathery cloak. A few belt pouches sit on his hips. He wears a necklace of crocodile teeth.
Amazing! I love lizardfolk, a race underutilized by Wizards of the Coast, and your drawn is awesome. Better than the majority of official books designs. Or something, my English is terrible ^^U
The lighting is really subtle, as most of it is stray ambient light, but not mood-setting, if you know what I mean. Which is okay, because there's no background. Definite lighting is one of the things I miss most in a picture like this, though. As with bumpy-skinned reptiles, sharp lighting really brings out the bumpy texture that I love so much. That said, the lizard-man is probably one of my favorite fantasy races, especially when portrayed as a tribal society. Their brutality really speaks to my inner caveman
