Fantasy illustration for Dungeon Magazine #144, accompanying an article called 'Muster of Morach Tor'.

From the art director's notes:
This illustration shows a soggy wooden pier, five feet wide, protruding into a marsh. In places, the pier has holes or missing timbers. The pier is quite long, extending off to the left. To the right, the pier abruptly ends, jutting out over the marsh. Two side piers protrude from the left side of the pier before ending abruptly or hanging into the swampy water. In the background, we see thick fog obscuring the swampy trees and several half-visible ruined buildings. From some of the pier’s pilings hang weird fetishes made of bones and dried lizards, and from a few others hang battered lanterns.

The focus of the illustration are two adventurers, a male human fighter dressed in full plate armor and wielding a greatsword and a female elf wizard dressed in red robes and wielding a glowing magic staff. They crouch in battle-ready stance as several lizardfolk clamber up onto the piers around them, dripping swampwater and wielding clubs of wood with animal jawbones lashed to them. In the water below the pier thrashes a crocodile, and scuttling around on the pier and buildings and trees are lots and lots of small lizards of all types.

The illustration takes place in the late afternoon, but with the dense fog it looks gloomy.

One thing I found funny was that it looks like the big crocodile is about to take a moutful of the lizard crawling up on the docks from the water. :)
