Battle Los AngelesI just saw Battle Los Angeles last night. This was truly the greatest, most saintly perfect alien invasion movie I have ever seen. It sanctified my television through the mere act of transmitting its impeccable majesty.
The armed forces are competent.
They face the aliens with courage and grace.

Are you seriously ripping off designs from specific anime now?
The themes of this year's VS show are 'Calendar', 'Circus', 'Toy Pink', 'Dangerous Liaisons', 'Silver Screen' and 'Angel in Bloom'.
Having a hard time seeing where a show-specific plugsuit re-design fits any of those generic themes. (addendum: did some digging and apparently she is supposed to be a generic "toy robot" - to go with the "doll", "tin soldier", "stuffed cat" and "cowgirl action figure")

Andrew Marr's History of the WorldProbably the most engaging and interesting history series I've seen in a while, thanks in no small part to the titular Mr Marr's entertainingly sardonic narration.
I love having this kind of thing playing in the background while I do my work.

I have a sudden urge to play Civilization.

Cool new story siteI love choose your own adventure books. they were so mean-spirited and cruel and the funniest thing was they were marked for kids, featured kids and just had the most fucked-up endings. i think these books were what got me into peril. I recall one ending where you and your girlfriend confront a bad guy. He shoots both of you point-blank in the stomach then calls his secretary to have the guards remove the bodies so he doesn't get blood stains on the carpet. Fucked-up shit but in a way it was good because it taught kids that you don't always win and sometimes you lose hard. So be smart.
With that in mind I'd like to share this site with you guys. it's called Amy's haunted house adventure and it's by Amy "NoComeupance" Ziegfeld. I'm fine...How about that.
All the medical tests are finally done and the good news is that everything's in the green and physically I'm pretty much where I should be at this age. I'm kinda surprised that everything's okay even my blood pressure and cholesterol levels, I'm not exactly a good example of healthy living. So far no indication of cancer, the most obvious would have been through second-hand smoke thanks to dad chain-smoking for most of his life before lung cancer caught up with him. Anyway, I pretty much got the 'you're fine' diagnosis along with I should exercise more.
The dental side has gone well too, had a follow-up cleaning and fluoride application and now will be going back every three months for checkups. Healing from wisdom teeth surgery is in the clear though still feels odd trying to get rid of food particles that like settling in the empty sockets. Still have to get used to flossing more often.

Evil Dead RemakeIf an original film has a splendid core concept, but a budget too low or a director too inept to do it justice, I don't mind a remake. I'll applaud it.
The most toxic remake thus far has been "Total Recall", which was terrible simply because it used the original as a crutch at more than a few points and, despite having a massive budget and 20 years of technological advancement on the original: felt less exciting and epic.
Closer to the book, sure, but just not as much fun.
And now they've turned their gaze upon "Evil Dead".
Now, I'm not going to try and defend the original Evil Dead, because it's not actually that great a film. This is proven with "Evil Dead 2", in which the entirety of the preceding movie's plot and purpose is successfully reduced to an opening act. Something that wouldn't have been possible were the movie, y'know; good.
"Evil Dead 2" is awesome. It's called a "cult classic" for a reason, and, in my eyes, should have rendered the whole franchise "sacred", meaning you

Oh my goodness.... I've been waiting and dreaming for one of these FOREVER! I want to cry I'm just so happy! Zelda and Sonic were the two things I wanted in an artbook the most.. and wow. 300 pages?!
